Viewsonic X100-4K review – Smartprix
[ad_1]
Viewsonic is an established name when it comes to projectors. It has a massive presence in educational institutions like schools, colleges, coaches and others. However, Viewsonic has now turned attention to high-end consumers with the launch of the X100-4K – it’s the first for the 4K projector. The new X100 projector comes with full 4K resolution combined with HDR. Unlike most projectors, this one has an LED light source. Is this unconventional approach to using an LED light source effective? Is it really a good buy for the home?
Well, the ViewSonic X100-4K + recently landed on our doorstep for review. After our rigorous testing, here is our opinion.

ViewSonic X100-4K review: design and features
The first thing you will notice about the X100-4K is its size and bulk. The projector has curved sides and on the back there are two fans as well as several connectivity ports, including four HDMI ports, one 3.5mm audio input, two USB Type-A, 3D VESA and RJ45 ports. There is also an audio output, S / PDIF and a 12V trigger. About these fans, they are really very calm.

Up front there is a lens with an automatic cover, which I really like. It opens when you turn on the projector and retracts when you turn it off. Viewsonic has included Harman Kardon speakers inside so you won’t necessarily have to add more speakers to the mix.

You’ll find the lens shift buttons and zoom dial at the top under a flap. The ViewSonic X100 offers a vertical lens shift of +/- 60% and a horizontal lens shift of +/- 25%, so you can keep it almost anywhere without worrying about anything. . Motorized focus allows you to control focus via the remote control to ensure you view the sharpest image possible at all times.
In terms of color options, the X100-4K is only offered in black, so no choice. All in all, projectors are not made to woo you with their design and this is also the case with Viewsonic X100-4K. It has a functional design which is efficient.
ViewSonic X100-4K review: setup and pictures
Setting up the X100-4K doesn’t take a lot of time and effort. It starts up quickly and doesn’t take long to deliver the best results. We were able to adapt to fill a wall space of almost 120 inches from a distance of about 10 to 11 feet. This whole installation process did not take more than 5 minutes. However, you will need to make adjustments to the color grading for accurate viewing. The main problem with the calibration with the X100-4K is the midtones that lean towards a greenish tint.

It comes with several picture presets so you can play around and find the one that works best for you. Of course, an Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) certified calibration tool is built in. We recommend that you learn about color calibration before you start changing image settings.

In our testing, we consumed all kinds of content through this projector. We have connected a FireTV Stick 4K and a Google TV Stick. We watched several movies including Marvel’s Black Widow. It delivered rich colors and good levels of contrast. During the sports broadcast, we did not notice any motion blur.
What about the shelf life?
The X100-4K is an LED projector, so it offers a much longer battery life. Viewsonic claims that it would offer a lifespan of 130,000 hours, which is much better than 1,000 to 5,000 hours or offered by lamp projectors. The Viewsonic projector also offers light output, reaching 2900 lumens. This means that the room does not need to be completely black for a visible image.
ViewSonic X100-4K review: sound

Projectors are not really known for delivering good sound performance. This is not the case with X100-4K. It contains two 20 watt Harman Kardon speakers which are good enough to fill a full sized room. The X100-4K delivers clear sound with decent bass, good enough to meet most people’s demands.
Should you buy the Viewsonic X100-4K projector?
The ViewSonic X100-4K + is priced at 385,000 yen, which is clearly a big investment. If you are installing a personal theater in the home, in this case, it is a worthwhile purchase. Please note, the Viewsonic X100-4K is not a portable projector, so if you want to move around, the Viewsonic X100-4K is not the right choice for you.
