Vazen releases 135mm T2.8 1.8X Anamorphic Lens for US$8,000
Vazen has unveiled a new 135mm T2.8 1.8x anamorphic lens for EF and PL full-frame mount cameras, completing a set of 3 lenses (50mm + 85mm + 135mm) of a full-frame anamorphic 1 range. .8x.
The new Vazen 135mm T2.8 is designed to fully cover large format cinema cameras such as Red Monstro, Red V-Raptor, Alexa LF, Kinefinity Mavo LF and Z-cam E2-F8. The lens is designed to deliver exceptional sharpness, even when operating wide aperture. The new 135mm features a relatively compact and lightweight design, it has the same focus and aperture position as the Vazen 85mm for easy lens changing on set.
It features an 86mm constant front filter thread convenient for ND filters or diopters to use and with a close focusing distance of 5ft (1.52m) allows this lens to produce a depth of extremely creamy field, plus front diameter set to standard 95mm size for easy use with matte boxes.
To see how this lens and other lenses in the set work, you can watch the video below:
This new lens is constructed entirely from aluminum and the independent aperture and focus rings are incorporated with 0.8 mod cine gears, this lens is also available in an interchangeable PL and EF mount making it a dream come true for those who like to rent cameras for certain shoots and don’t need to worry about lens options too.
All Vazen 1.8x anamorphic lenses feature a front anamorphic design that delivers smooth, creamy oval bokeh, signature blue, but not overly saturated, horizontal flare, and a cinematic widescreen look. The lens also has a wide 32.2° horizontal field of view (similar to a 75mm spherical lens) and the closest focusing distance is 5ft (1.52m) from the sensor. .
Vazen chose to adopt the 1.8x compression design to balance anamorphic characters as well as image resolution. 1.8x compression can produce a 2.39:1 aspect cinematic widescreen when paired with 4:3 sensors. When paired with 16:9 sensors, much less data needs to be cropped to create the desired 2.39:1 ratio.
The three-lens FF set that includes the Vazen 50mm, 85mm, and the 135mm is currently priced at $19,999 (a $4,000 discount from buying all three lenses separately) with a hard case at exclusive triple lens – or if you prefer to buy lenses individually, like most of us, they’ll cost you $8,000 each.
