Use presets to make your photos less unique

Reality: people like the same and similar variations over and over again. They can’t get enough. This is why so many fast food options have similar menus. This is a great reason why every Bollywood movie follows iterations of the same plot. But it has crept into other parts of life as well. Along with the way the app algorithms work, it also made us love so many similar images. They have a similar appearance and content. And so, you should really give up all hope of being creative. Instead, deliver exactly what customers want: what is more or less the same. That’s why the presets are awesome!

And, of course, we’re not talking about using Instagram presets. It’s finish. Instead, use others from companies like these. Some say some look like real movies. But the truth is, they don’t; everyone thinks they look like a real movie even if they haven’t seen what a real movie looks like. If you want to get more likes, you have to feed misinformation. Apply this preset and say somewhere in the post that it’s a real movie.

Then there are all those cool and crazy colors. Orange and teal is a big one. Why not just apply this preset profile to all of your photos? This will necessarily earn you more likes (and therefore more customers). In fact, when shooting, just create this profile in your camera and don’t even edit. It’s no use, especially if they don’t pay well.

The key here is to tailor them to the way you shoot and shoot for editing. Try to underexpose the photo as you know you can get a better retouch later. Then take a preset you like, edit it however you like, and save it as a custom profile. Perhaps push the exposure to a complete stop while nerfing highlights and crushing blacks. It’s a popular thing that YouTubers do. And it’s even better because from the way they mount you can never tell which cameras or lenses they are using. Indeed, this is something unique for them and it satisfies the algorithm. That’s all art these days.

If you really want to intensify it, export your images to NFT format. Here is a truth; nobody understands the market. It does not mean anything. Why not try to sell something that doesn’t make sense in a market that doesn’t even make sense? Really, because you manipulate the preset the way you shoot, you create something unique. No one else can do that until you’re ready to sell your own presets. But since they all look the same, you need to make yours stand out even more. So here are a few more ideas:

  • Lower the clarity all the way. It will eventually become a vibe once another designer copies you and your ideas.

  • Add streaks

  • Add in all the color and fake image noise we saw in early digital cameras. People are all about this look now.

  • Better yet, just buy a vintage digital camera with a CCD sensor and get the profiles for those cameras.
