The new Samsung Freestyle projector is awesome –
This is a cracker product, brilliantly designed, it’s compact yet powerful, and it does what Samsung claims, delivers a brilliant image on a screen from a device that can easily travel, which makes it ideal for both home and travel. At $1,400, this Freestyle projector is well worth the price.
The ability to use Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or Samsung’s Bixby gives you the ability to talk to it.
Built-in streaming services and mirroring and casting features are compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices.
Lightweight, versatile and revolutionary – this is truly the future of projectors.
The next step has to be 4K and I suspect the consumer will jump on an Ultra High Definition version of this device.
It’s not often, especially since it’s so early in the new year, that we think we’ve seen what must be a contender for Product of the Year.
The curious new Samsung device that seriously caught our eye looks like a freestanding light you might pick up at Bunnings, which it is, but it’s also a point-and-play projector and smart speaker. , all in one.
Called the Samsung Freestyle, the device is a small, portable, cylindrical projector that’s radically different from anything we’ve seen from projector companies in the past, and I suspect it’s poised to be a smash hit for South Korean society.
The projector can be used in multiple ways and is even compatible with power banks that support USB-PD and an output of 50W/20V or more, so you can take it with you wherever you go.
I first saw this product in a tent at CES, then in a desk setup, and finally projected onto a wall where the 100″ screen looked as good as more expensive projectors.
Samsung even had the innovative idea of having spruikers at CES display an image of the projector on a whiteboard as they mingled with attendees to demonstrate just how flexible the device is.
People couldn’t help but stop to take a look and marvel at the picture quality, even when powered by a battery.
As a mini DLP projector, the Freestyle can project 1080p high definition images up to 100 inches (diagonal) almost anywhere with minimal setup.
The light source is a 20,000 hour LED lamp with a rated brightness of 550 nits and you can rotate the box 180 degrees, allowing video to be projected onto a wall, ceiling, floor, table, whatever. imported.
A distance of 76 centimeters from the projection surface gives you a “screen” of 30 inches. Moving it 274 centimeters increases the image size up to 100 inches.
Designed for mains or battery operation, this $1,400 projector can be easily stored in a small waterproof carrying case and can be used directly from an Android or iOS mobile phone. It also comes with its own remote control and is both versatile and flexible.
With the stand, the Freestyle is only 18 centimeters long and weighs less than a kilo, which makes it easy to transport.
Setup is simple. In the package is a remote control, and all you need to do is connect the device to the Internet.
I opted to use my cell phone and within minutes I had Foxtel and Binge streaming on a wall.
The remote comes with built-in Samsung TV software access, giving you easy access to Samsung Smart TV features similar to those found on Samsung Smart TVs.
Built-in streaming services and mirroring and casting features are compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices.
Thanks to Auto Keystone Correction and Auto Leveling technology, which automatically adjusts the image, I didn’t have to worry about focusing the display or correcting the position of the display on a wall or ceiling.
Built-in autofocus finishes the job, ensuring a clear image on a screen or wall.
This projector even supports HDR10 and HLG High Dynamic Range (HDR).
Some of the main features of this device are incredibly simple.
Take the stand which can be rotated 180 degrees so you can project the image both vertically and horizontally.
Ideal for camping or even fixed under a shelf in an office, this projector has a large display power, which is surprising for such a small device.
Described as one-of-a-kind technology, this product offers optimal viewing and entertainment in a compact size like I’ve never seen before.
Unlike the conventional, square projectors from BenQ or Epsom, the Freestyle is a breath of fresh air when it comes to design, functionality and performance, because someone sat down and came up with a really neat new design.
At the rear of the device is a dual passive radiator allowing for crisp, deep bass, and its 360-degree sound radiation technology is extremely clear for such a small device.
And if you want a great sound experience or want to connect the device to a pair of Samsung Galaxy headphones, all you need to do is access Bluetooth pairing and connect to your headphones.
And for those who like a bit of mood lighting much like the old Philips Ambilight, the Freestyle also offers mood lighting effects via a translucent lens cap that comes with the projector.
The remote comes with built-in Samsung TV software access, giving you easy access to Samsung Smart TV features similar to those found on Samsung Smart TVs.
Built-in streaming services and mirroring and casting features are compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices.
Far-field voice control is also integrated, allowing users to choose their preferred voice assistants when using the device in hands-free mode.
The lens cap turns the Freestyle into a colorful source of ambient light. An optional waterproof case and portable battery will be available as accessories.
There’s also a physical microphone switch or you can use Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or Samsung’s Bixby assistant to talk to the projector.
