Somerset County Government: Somerset County to host First Saturdays and e-waste drop-off events on October 2

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Recycle newspapers, magazines, junk mail and more on Deposit of the first Saturday of the month be held to Saturday October 2 of 8h00 To 2 p.m., at the Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

Acceptance of donations on the first Saturday of the month: Help families in need by donating canned food, which will be delivered to local food banks.

Social distancing is mandatory: Residents must stay in their vehicles. Staff will be available at each station to help residents remove items from their vehicles.

Proof of residency is required: Residents must have a current driver’s license, valid lease, tax bill, or other invoice that shows proof of their address in Somerset County. Pre-registration is not required. Businesses or commercial vehicles are NOT allowed.

Accepted items: Store up to eight tires – with or without rims – scrap metal, used engine oil, oil filters, antifreeze, and common curbside materials, including chipboard items, bottles plastic and containers marked # 1 through # 7. Chipboard items include gift boxes, shoes, shirts and all retail boxes, as well as boxes of cereal, cookies, pasta , cakes and crackers without the plastic liners. Also accepted are poster board, backing for dried and empty steel notepads and paint cans.

Items NOT accepted: Somerset County do not accept textiles at the depot on the first Saturday of the month. Residents should continue to recycle used textiles in any local charitable donation bin.

Electronic waste deposit

HILLSBOROUGH, New Jersey – Get rid of objects that clutter the house to Electronic waste deposit event that will take place on Saturday October 2 of from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., to South County Public Works Garage, located To 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.

Social distancing is mandatory: Residents must remain in their vehicles until instructed otherwise. Residents are required to remove items from their vehicles without staff assistance and place items on pallets as instructed by staff.

Proof of residency is required: Residents must have a current driver’s license, valid lease, tax bill, or other invoice that shows proof of their address in Somerset County. Pre-registration is not required. Businesses or commercial vehicles are NOT allowed.

Accepted items: Computers (desktop and laptops), monitors (cathode ray tube and flat screen), televisions (cathode ray tube and flat screen), copiers, digital cameras, DVD players, e-book readers, fax machines, MP3 players, personal digital assistants ( PDAs), printers, stereos, radio equipment, VCRs, audiovisual equipment, typewriters, camcorders, telephones, cell phones, circuit boards, modems, central telephone computers, keyboards, mice, scanners, cables, wiring, power supplies, equipment central offices and controllers.

Items NOT accepted: Batteries are not accepted. Residents can recycle household hazardous waste, including lithium and rechargeable batteries during scheduled household hazardous waste collection events.
