SHRED-A-THON: Shred your documents for FREE with 8 On Your Side

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Need to protect your identity by getting rid of unwanted documents? 8 On Your Side has you covered.

Tampa Bay residents can head to Raymond James Stadium for the FREE 8 On Your Side Shred-A-Thon. WFLA staff and volunteers will help them get rid of their digital or paper items for free at a drive-in event.

Those who have items to shred can bring up to four boxes of personal documents. Metal binders, cardboard and business documents will not be accepted.

“This event is all about safety, security and peace of mind,” said AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins. “Dispose of electronic devices and personal documents safely.”

“Protecting your identity is so important and that’s why AAA provides ‘Protect My ID’ which is identity theft protection,” he said. “It’s included in the AAA membership and it comes with fraud resolutions and assistance.”

To get to the drive-thru, head to the Raymond James Stadium North parking lot. Entries for northbound traffic off Dale Mabry will be Lot 9 while southbound traffic off Himes will be Lot 6.

And while you shred, you’ll even get the chance to chat with News Channel 8 anchors, Tampa Bay Buccaneer cheerleaders and Captain Fear mascot and even snap a photo to share on social media! Be sure to use the #8shreds hashtag when posting.

The 8 On Your Side FREE Shred-A-Thon is sponsored by Urban E Recycling, AAA and Older, Lundy, Alvarez and Koch.

Doors close at noon, but if you’re already in line, your documents will be shredded.
