Rochelle News-Leader | County hosts electronics recycling, paper shredding and food collection event on October 15
OREGON – The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD) will host a residential electronics recycling and paper shredding event and food drive on Saturday, October 15 at the County Annex Building located at 909 Pines Road in Oregon. This event is for Ogle County residents only, no electronic devices or commercial or institutional documents are accepted.
Home electronics will be accepted from 8 a.m. to noon during this event. Items accepted include all televisions, computer monitors, computers and computer cords and accessories, printers, fax machines, desktop copiers, tablets, cell phones, laptops, DVD players and VCRs, satellite/cable boxes, radios , stereo equipment, shredders (not bins), video game equipment, rechargeable batteries, ink cartridges for printers, digital clocks, calculators, holiday light strings and other small electronic devices. Microwave ovens are accepted for a fee of $5 per unit. Permits are required for the electronic recycling event, obtain a free permit by calling 815-732-4020 or emailing your name, address and phone number at [email protected].
Paper shredding will be done from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. No permit is required for paper shredding. Paper shredding is provided by the OCSWMD and is free to residents. All documents will be shredded on site. Limit four bank-sized boxes of documents per household. Remove all paper clips and metal binders before the event.
Remember the less fortunate in our community and also bring a non-perishable food item to the event. All donations will be distributed by the OCSWMD to local food panties in Ogle County. Items accepted include unexpired cans and jars and boxed food items, as well as household essentials such as sealed toothpaste, soap, cleaning supplies, laundry products, paper towels, etc
