WANE is looking for a part-time Digital Producer who is ready to take their skills to the next level in a newsroom that fosters growth and development. The digital producer produces, reports, films, writes, voices, edits and powers news production content specifically for digital and social media platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to wane.com and our mobile applications. This is a weekend position with no on-air responsibility. The hours of Saturday and Sunday evening are compulsory.
Additional job description:
- News reports to be disseminated, describing the background and details of the events
- Writes articles for the web and other eMedia platforms
- Organizes WANE.com content to better serve our web audience
- Arrange interviews with people who can provide information about stories
- Reviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
- Reviews and assesses notes taken on aspects of the event to isolate relevant facts and details
- Determines the emphasis, length and format of a story and organizes the material accordingly
- Research and analyze basic information related to news to be able to provide complete and accurate information
- Collects information about events through research, interviews, experiences or participation in political, current affairs, sporting, artistic, social or other events
- Presents stories to news managers and news producers that are relevant to the local community
- Discuss issues with producers and / or information officers to establish priorities or positions
- Checks reference materials such as books, news files or public records for relevant facts
- Reviews work to meet editorial approval or to meet time requirements
- Ensures all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Interacts with viewers / users on social media sites
- Performs special projects and other assigned tasks
Requirements and skills:
Work towards a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- fluent English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to at will if necessary
- Proficiency in computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
