Monthly First Saturday and Somerset County E-waste Depot
BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Somerset County hosts monthly First Saturday and E-Waste Drop-off events on Saturday August 6, in Bridgewater and Hillsborough. These two free monthly events benefit the environment by allowing residents to safely dispose of their items all at once.
Somerset County Recycling helps support First class project by accepting school supply donations at upcoming First Saturday Drop-off events on August 6 and Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to Somerset County Recycling Centre, 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater. Residents can take this opportunity to recycle their surplus items and donate new school supplies to a good cause.
Residents may bring recyclable materials such as newspapers, junk mail and other acceptable items to the First Saturday deposit of the month on Saturday August 6, of 8am at 2 p.m., to Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
Residents must stay in their vehicle: Staff will be available at each station to help residents remove their items.
Proof of address is required: Residents must have a valid driver’s license, valid lease, tax bill or other bill proving their address in Somerset County. Advance registration is not required. Businesses and commercial vehicles are NOT permit.
Items accepted: Dump up to eight tires – with or without rims – scrap metal, used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze and the usual curbside materials, including chipboard items, bottles plastic and containers numbered 1 through 7. Chipboard items include gift boxes, shoe boxes, shirt boxes and all retail boxes, as well as boxes of cereal, cookies, pasta, cakes and crackers without the plastic liners, poster board, notepad holder and empty dried steel paint cans.
Items NOT accepted: Somerset County makes Do not accept textiles at the depot on the first Saturday of the month. Residents should continue to recycle used textiles at any local charity donation bin.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – Get rid of clutter in the house to Electronic waste depot event that will take place on Saturday August 6, of from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., to South County Public Works Garage, located at 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, New Jersey 08844.
Residents must remain in their vehicles unless instructed otherwise and may need to remove items unaided and place them on pallets as directed by staff.
Proof of address is required: Residents must have a valid driver’s license, valid lease, tax bill or other bill proving their address in Somerset County. Advance registration is not required. Businesses and commercial vehicles are NOT authorized.
Items accepted: Computers (desktop and laptop), monitors (CRT and flat screen), televisions (CRT and flat screen), photocopiers, digital cameras, DVD players, e-book readers, fax machines, MP3 players, PDAs (PDA), printers, stereos, radio equipment, video recorders, audiovisual equipment, typewriters, camcorders, telephones, cell phones, circuit boards, modems, telephone exchange computers, keyboards, mice, scanners, cables, cabling, power supplies, mainframe computer equipment and controllers.
Items NOT accepted: Batteries are not accepted. Residents can recycle hazardous waste, including lithium and rechargeable batteries at scheduled hazardous waste drop-off events.
