Lancashire’s fast growing businesses create jobs and wealth with County Council support



A unique support program designed to help large-scale Lancashire businesses bounce back stronger from the coronavirus pandemic has created around 90 local jobs and returned millions of pounds to Lancashire’s economy.

Two Zero Scaleup Resurgence, fully funded by Lancashire County Council and provided by Lancashire-based business growth consultancy Cube Thinking, was designed to help high-growth small and medium-sized businesses regain their full potential soon after Covid-19.

21 Lancashire companies participated in the 90-day support program from July to October 2020. Participant feedback results also indicate a combined 33% growth in turnover for the 21 participating Lancashire companies over the course of the year since their participation, contributing an additional 4.4 million pounds to the local economy.

As a result of this program, companies have created around 90 jobs and expect further strong and sustained growth.

Nathaniel Butters, director of ECO Surv, was one of the business leaders of the Scaleup Resurgence program. ECO Surv specializes in providing software solutions to the energy efficiency and renewable energy industry and at the onset of the pandemic, Nathaniel took protective measures to ensure his business would withstand lockdowns and prepare it for a downturn. changing market.

Since the end of the program, ECO Surv has nearly doubled its team in all departments to a total of 35 employees and has redefined its brand and value proposition. The company also recently moved to new offices in Chorley as part of a strategic effort for a 50 percent increase in revenue.

The Scaleup Resurgence program was aimed specifically at companies looking to achieve sustained 20% year-over-year growth and included quality coaching and mentoring, high-growth masterclasses featuring scaleup experts, and learning. between peers.

Another company to benefit from the program was Matrix247 Communications Group. The company has increased its turnover from around £ 3million to £ 5.5million and is in the process of recruiting, increasing its workforce from 22 to 40. Matrix247 also recently acquired Task Office Systems, based at Bolton, a specialist in Microsoft Office products and digital copiers. with document management capabilities.

Through the acquisition, Matrix247 can now take advantage of the increased demand for technologies and systems to enable “new ways of working” that was triggered by the lockdown.
