Donations needed for the family who lost everything in the Thanksgiving fire | KWKT
KILLEEN, Texas – A fire on Thanksgiving Day left a couple in Killeen with nothing but clothes on their backs. Now the couple’s daughter is collecting donations to help her parents get through this difficult time.
Sha Washington is the daughter of John and Giselle Arman. She says both of her parents have several health issues and are currently staying in a hotel.
The fire started in a room at the back of the house on block 5700 Jim Avenue in Killeen. The fire department says that thanks to the smoke detectors that went off, John was able to get out safely.
So far, the family has been able to raise over $ 3,000 towards their goal of $ 5,000 on GoFundMe.
Sha says that thanks to the donations they have already received, they have been able to buy basic necessities such as food, clothes and toiletries.
In the post she says:
Thank you all for your overwhelming love and support. My parents are filled with joy and gratitude. Thanks to your donations, we were able to provide my parents with their basic needs: food, clothes and toiletries.
My mom has all of her medical equipment and medication, but we are still waiting until Monday for the VA to open to contact them about replacement equipment and medication for my dad.
My parents’ insurance company helped with temporary housing and they should be there soon. Please give us some time to figure out what this will look like for those of you who wish to donate food and furniture. Once we know what their life situation will be like, we can provide a drop-off location.
Here are their sizes for those of you who have asked.
Pants / shirts: 5x – 6x
Boxers / Briefs: 6x
Pants / shirts: 2x
Panties: 2x / 9 ″
