Chamber and PBW to Present Businesswomen’s Week Event


The Rome Region Chamber of Commerce and Professional and Business Women of Rome will be presenting a National Forum Event for Women in Business Week on Wednesday, October 20 at the Capitol Theater, 230 W. Dominick St.

Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. and the program will start at 8:00 a.m.

Robin Bridson, Past President of NYS Women Inc., will speak on the history of National Business Women’s Week.

Also speaking about their background and experiences as successful women in leadership positions and providing appropriate remarks on the challenges and opportunities they face in their professions will be:

• Jacqueline M. Izzo, Mayor of Rome;

• AnneMarie Walker-Czyz, President and CEO of Rome Health; and

• Heather Hage, President and CEO of the Griffiss Institute.

Professional and Business Women of Rome will honor two first responders from the Rome Police Department for the positive impact they have on the community with the Yellow Rose of Challenge Award:

• Lieutenant Sharon L. Rood; and

• Patrol Officer Alexzandra S. Carletta.

Art Pierce, executive director of the Capitol Theater, will provide an update on the $ 2.5 million improvements to the Capitol, including the restoration of the historic marquee, which is expected to be completed this fall.

The event is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Community Bank, NA, Brown & Brown Insurance Empire State, NBT Bank, The Grand Rehabilitation & Nursing Rome, Rome ACE Hardware and Nunn’s Home Medical Equipment.

Adam Hovak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rome Region Chamber of Commerce, and Beth Jones, President of Professional and Business Women of Rome, will chair the forum, according to the chamber of commerce announcement.
