We offer a variety of technologies to help you at school, at work and in life. If you need help using any of the library’s technologies, just ask at the information desk!

Computers with Internet access are available for public use in all locations of the County Durham Library.

Wireless internet access

You can connect your own device to the internet at any of our locations. Our wireless Internet access is free and does not require a password. Look for the network named “DCo Library Public”. Please note, our network is an unsecured network.

Your County Durham Library Card lets you borrow a mobile hotspot to take the internet wherever you go!

Printing is available at all locations. You can send your file to the printer from one of our public computers, or print to a library printer from your own device using our mobile printing service. There is a nominal charge that can be paid by credit card at the adult computers in the main library and cash at our other locations.

Scanners

Scanners are available at every location except the Bragtown Branch Library. The Main Library and East Regional have a document feeder and flatbed scanners. All other locations have flatbed scanners. Our scanners can process up to legal size documents (8.5 “x 14”).

Scanning is free. You will need a library card or a computer usage card to connect to the scanner computer.

Copiers are available at all locations. There is a nominal charge that can be paid by credit card at the adult computers in the main library and cash at our other locations.

Fax

Fax machines are available for public use at all County Durham Library locations except the Bragtown Branch Library.

Faxing to the main library is free.

In our other branches, faxes cost $ 1.75 for the first page and $ 1 for each page thereafter. Fax machines only accept credit cards for payment (not cash). You can check the status of your fax online after sending it.

Manufacturing equipment

Available through STEAM services at the main library.

3d printing

Create physical 3D models from digital files with printers that melt and extrude plastic layer by layer.

CNC machines

Machines capable of carving and engraving heavier materials such as plastic, wood and PVC.

Sewing machine

One machine for all your sewing, binding and fabric creation needs. SINGER 4423, 15.5 x 6.25 x 12 inches

To ensure that anyone can access our services and resources, we have a range of assistive technologies available to use.

A giant vehicle the size of a large RV, Tech Mobile is packed with all kinds of tech ready to hit the road. It can serve as a mobile hotspot in the community, offer STEAM programming and computing courses, allow you to host a meeting in our meeting space, and much more!
