By commissioning the launch of the imaging space at the University of Lagos, Canon further strengthens its commitment to education and empowerment in Africa

Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA) (www.Canon-CNA.com), Announces the Launch of “Canon Imaging Space” at the Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Center on the University of Lagos Campus in Nigeria to recognize, educate and empower new talent in the region. In its constant effort to equip people with the education, skills, tools and opportunities necessary for storytelling, Canon has created a dedicated and permanent platform to develop an interactive imaging space within the university campus of UNILAG.

The space is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging equipment: three cameras and three printers which were provided to the management of ESDC UNILAG to facilitate the use of the space and equipment by university students. As part of Canon’s ongoing contributions to societal development, the Imaging Space will focus on educating, engaging, and training students in the art of visual storytelling and photography. In addition, Canon will also offer “Canon Academy Master Classes” – a series that will have a hybrid approach of intensive training for students by Canon Ambassadors and internationally renowned photography and videography professionals at the University of Lagos. Students will receive a lucrative opportunity to gain hands-on training using professional equipment as well as various engaging photo and video contests exclusively dedicated to students.

Commenting on the launch of the imaging space, Teacher. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos said, “We are very happy to partner with Canon to create this unique space to build within UNILAG which will offer students the opportunity to hone their skills before entering the real professional world.
